Connie Sjödin (DPhil 2026) - Associate Lecturer Role

Connie Sjödin (DPhil 2026) has recently taken up the role of Associate Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Art History at University College London (UCL).

Throughout this academic year, she’ll be teaching at both undergraduate and master’s levels, including an MA module exploring artist collectives, socialist politics, and transnational solidarity across the twentieth century.

For this module, she’ll be drawing extensively on her recently completed doctoral thesis, supervised by Professor Alastair Wright in Oxford’s History of Art Department, which examined the Algerian artist collective Aouchem and its postcolonial ‘Third World’ imaginaries. She is currently developing this research into her first monograph, bolstered in turn by conversations with her students at UCL.
